There has been a change to the lineup of Hellsinki Metal Festival, taking place in Helsinki on August 7–8. Finnish progressive death metal rising force Numento will replace the American band Ill Niño, whose performance at the festival has been cancelled due to value conflicts and logistical challenges. In addition, Accept and Black Label Society will swap their set times on the main stage on Friday evening.
In addition to traditional band instruments, Numento has brought Finland’s national instrument, the kantele, into a new realm of use — and the kantele roars with distortion on the band’s latest single, The Extortionist. Last year, Numento won the Finnish Wacken Metal Battle competition, and the band’s music has been heard not only on stages but also on the Osu! Beatmap gaming platform. So far, the band has released three albums during their career, the latest of which, The Antimatter Fantasy (2024), received highly acclaimed reviews.
For its fourth edition, Hellsinki Metal Festival will also introduce its own beer brewed by Fat Lizard: Brutal Fu**ing Lager. In addition to being available at the festival itself, the beer will be available starting this Friday in selected K-Supermarkets and key rock bars around the Helsinki metropolitan area.
