Hellsinki Metal Festival Lineup is ready
For the third time, Hellsinki Metal Festival will take place at the Helsinki Ice Hall, known as Nordis, and today, the full lineup for this year’s event is revealed.
The latest additions include the legendary British band Venom, pioneers of extreme metal since 1979, Michael Schenker, performing his special My Years with UFO show, the atmospheric Swedish post-metal group Cult of Luna, and the Belgian grindcore phenomenon Brutal Sphincter. Finnish representation is strengthened by Rabbit Cult, a bunny metal duo that made a sharp rise last year.
The additional program for Hellsinki Metal Festival is also taking shape rapidly. The Dark Art Gallery, launched last year, is now opening its doors to a broader range of artists. An open call for the exhibition is currently live at https://gest.fi/customers/chbfig/7785. The curator, whose identity will be revealed later, will work on this year’s exhibition at Nordis throughout the spring.
The VIP area, known as RIP, is also evolving this year. To enhance the experience, daily warm meals will be included with RIP tickets. As usual, RIP guests will have access to a private indoor restroom and a premium viewing area overlooking the two outdoor stages, with a covered section for rainy weather.
This year’s previously announced lineup includes King Diamond, Old Man’s Child, Decapitated, Napalm Death, Ill Niño, Fear Factory, Dismember, and AngelMaker. Also performing are Hatebreed, Enslaved, Landmvrks, Kanonenfieber, Candlemass, Moonsorrow, Forbidden, Marduk, Me and That Man, Warmen, Party Cannon, GosT, and Alfahanne.
One of the most anticipated performances of the summer is set to take place at Nordis: Blood Fire Death – A Tribute to Quorthon and the Music of Bathory, featuring a special lineup including members from Watain, Aura Noir, and Enslaved. Special guests, whose identities are yet to be revealed, will also join the stage. These tribute shows, happening at select festivals next summer, celebrate the musical legacy of the late Thomas “Quorthon” Forsberg.
